Please note: Due to wet season Darwin is closed for pickups between 10 December 2012 and 31 March 2013.

Rental Duration
Minimum rental period: 5 days. Minimum rental is extended to 10 days for the travel period from 20 December to 05 January. Vehicle rentals are calculated on a per calendar day basis, i.e. day of pick-up or drop off is always counted as a full day irrespective of what time it is collected or dropped off.

One Way Rental Fee
One way rentals are available between East Coast Depot locations (Brisbane, Cairns & Sydney. A one-way rental fee of AUD $280 applies for pick ups & drop offs in Brisbane, Cairns & Sydney. Multiple rentals are treated as separate rentals under the one way fee and minimum rental period condtions. The fee is waved when the All Inclusive Package "Premium Cover " is taken.

Please see minimum rental periods for one way bookings. Hire periods are listed below and apply to all vehicle types as per their available locations listed in the above rates table.

Licence and Minimum Age
A valid full (non-provisional) national drivers licence is required. Non-English language national drivers licences must be presented in conjunction with an official translation or valid international drivers licence. The minimum age is 21 years – no maximum age. Additional drivers must meet all KEA rental requirements and be at the depot at the time of vehicle pick up and sign the rental agreement.

Traffic Laws
The hirer is liable for all fines and penalties in relation to the driver's use of the vehicle or the vehicle itself incurred during the rental period plus an administration fee of AUD $60 for each infringement or penalty notice that has been redirected by KEA to the hirer.

Standard Liability
All KEA vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible for the first AUD 7,500 of the cost of damage to the rented vehicle including windscreen, tyre damage, overhead, under-body, towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism. The hirer will also be fully liable for demurrage i.e. the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs - max 7 days.

The security deposit can be paid by cash, traveller’s cheques and credit card (see paragraph Important: “Security deposit payments by Credit Card”). The security deposit is fully refundable on return of the KEA vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date in a clean and tidy condition with no damage incurred to the vehicle, with a full tank of Diesel (4WD dual tank), the toilet cassette and waste water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged.

In case of any damage to the KEA vehicle or third party property a second security deposit might be collected to cover the excess for subsequent damages.

Important: Security Deposit Payments By Credit Card
If the hirer does not choose a Liability reduction option a security deposit of AUD $7,500 is taken. This security deposit is deducted from the customer’s credit card at the time of vehicle pickup. KEA accepts Visa, MasterCard, Diners and AMEX. When the vehicle is returned to KEA undamaged and no Third Party damage occurred, the security deposit is fully refunded. Like other currencies, the Australian Dollar does fluctuate and there could be some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount initially charged. KEA does not accept liability for variances up or down.

KEA Campers offer the following options to reduce or waive the Standard Liability:

Liability Reduction Option to AUD NIL ( Gold Cover )
The Liability can be waived for AUD $42 (AUD $47 for 4WD vehicle) per day. The cost is limited to a maximum of 50 days or AUD $2,100 (AUD $2,350 for 4WD).

An AUD NIL liability applies for any vehicle damage, demurrage, cost replacing or repairing windscreens, tyres, overhead and underbody as well as single accident damage. A security deposit of AUD 500 is payable by an open signed credit card imprint with an authorisation obtained (sufficient funds must be available) for AUD 500 at the time of vehicle pickup. The security deposit is fully refundable on return of the KEA vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date in clean condition with a full tank of Diesel (4WD dual tank), the toilet cassette and waste water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged. bond

All Inclusive Rate (Platinum Cover)
KEA’s All Inclusive Rate is available to travellers for AUD $61 (4WD $70) per day premium Charge is limited to a maximum of 50 days or AUD $2,450 (AUD $2,800 for 4WD).

The All Inclusive Package includes Standard Rates Inclusions Plus the following :

A security deposit of AUD 500 is payable by an open signed credit card imprint with an authorisation obtained (sufficient funds must be available) for AUD 500 at the time of vehicle pickup. The security deposit is fully refundable on return of the KEA vehicle to the agreed location, on the agreed date in a clean and tidy condition, with a full tank of Diesel (4WD dual tank), the toilet cassette clean and emptied, the waste water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged.

Responsibilities of the Hirer
The renter is fully liable for any damage to the KEA Campers vehicle or third party property if:

1. Damage to the vehicle or third party property if the terms of the rental agreement are breached
2. Damage caused by careless, wilful or reckless driving incl. speeding
3. Damage is caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
4. Damage caused due to single vehicle roll over (4WD only)
4. Damage caused by driving on restricted roads
5. Damage to or loss of any personal belongings.
6. Damage caused by part or total fresh or saltwater submersion (creek or river crossing, driving through flooded
areas, beach driving etc.
7. Damage caused by carrying more than maximum number of passengers as dictated by vehicle type
8. Damage caused by drivers not identified on the rental agreement and/or drivers whose licence has
been cancelled or suspended and/or drivers who have a licence that is classified as a learners or
Probationary Licence
9. Costs associated with the incorrect use of fuel or water or other contamination of fuel
10. Costs to retrieve or recover vehicle that has become bogged, submerged or abandoned, including any damage
caused at time of recovery
11. Costs to replace keys that have been lost or damaged or retrieval of keys that are locked in the vehicle
12. Repairs made to the vehicle without KEA’s permission

In the instances of a manual vehicle being hired, the driver must be a competent and an experienced operator of manual vehicles.

Travel Restrictions
Two-wheel drive vehicles must not be used on any unsealed road (a road not sealed with a hard material such as tar, bitumen or concrete). The only exceptions to this are well maintained access roads of less than 12 kilometres (one-way) to recognised campgrounds, National Parks and well maintained, recognised roads on Kangaroo Island (South Australia).

Four-wheel drive vehicles are not permitted on any Island in Queensland (including Fraser Island), the Old Gunbarrel Highway, the Lost City in Litchfield, The Telegraph section of the road to Cape York, Boggy Hole (Finke Gorge National Park) and the Old South Road from Maryvale to Finke at any time. Travel to Cape York between the months of December to May is not permitted. They are allowed on the Canning Stock Route only when part of a guided tour, authorised by KEA. KEA reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to restrict vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions. We value the well-being of our customers, and for safety purposes, KEA will advise on pick-up of any travel restrictions known at that time.

Smoking and Animal Restrictions
Smoking in KEA vehicles is strictly prohibited, and offenders will be charged a fume removal fee of AUD $500. Animals are also not permitted in any KEA vehicle and the same cleaning fee will apply.

Repairs
Repairs of up to AUD $100 may be effected without authorisation and will be reimbursed. Amounts above AUD $100 require approval from KEA on-road assistance.

First Aid Kit
A comprehensive First Aid Kit is supplied in each vehicle. If the seal is broken or the kit is not returned, a fee of AUD $50 is charged at the time of vehicle drop off.

Vehicle Return
All vehicles must be returned to the agreed location, on the agreed date in clean condition with no damage incurred to the KEA vehicle or third party property, with the toilet cassette and waste water tank emptied and no equipment lost or damaged. A fee of AUD $250 will be charged if the toilet cassette is not emptied or the vehicle is not returned in a reasonable clean condition.

Please Note: All vehicles must be returned with a full diesel tank (4WD dual tank). Re-fuelling at our depot will be charged at AUD $2.50 per litre of fuel, plus handling fee of AUD $25.

To be booked at time of reservation and payable on vehicle collection.

* Baby, Child or Booster seats can only be fitted to 4/5 ST & 6 ST models.
** Tyre must be stored inside the vehicle when driving.

Cancellation Fees

Multiple Rentals
Multiple rentals can be combined to qualify for a longer term rental rate. Australia and New Zealand rentals, as well as multiple rentals within one country, can be combined to qualify if travel is within a 12 month period. If the drop off and pick up of a vehicle occurs on the same day then each day will be charged per respective vehicle.

Booking Amendments
• If rental dates are amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up, no refund will be made if the hire is shortened.
• If the pick up or drop off rental location is amended within 14 days of vehicle pick up, a relocation fee may apply.
• Changes to the drop off rental location after the rental has commenced must be approved by KEA reservations. If approved a minimum charge of AUD $750 applies.
• Rental extension, whilst on hire, must be approved by KEA reservations. The extra cost must be paid on confirmation of the rental extension.

Change of Vehicle
If, for reasons beyond our control, the reserved vehicle is not available, we reserve the right to substitute a comparable or superior vehicle at no extra cost to the client. This shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle the renter to any form of refund.

Vehicle Category Downgrade / Upgrade
Vehicles cannot be requested by model, mileage or age, only by vehicle category*. Should the hirer decide to take a lesser category vehicle than booked within 14 days of pick up or during the rental, no refund will be paid. In the case of an upgrade the rate difference is payable.

Taxes
All charges include 10% GST and 2.5% Local State Tax. All rates and conditions are subject to change in accordance with changes in government taxes.

Changes of Contract
Changes to the contract are only valid in writing. Verbal changes are invalid unless confirmed in writing.

Shortening of Rental Period:
If a renter shortens their hire period by more than a week - it may be treated as a cancellation of the whole booking and a re-booking. This depends on when the amendment takes place and how many days of hire are being cancelled. Please ensure you always have travel insurance in place.
